Riverfront City Park has a bridge that leads to Minto Brown Park. The bridge opened on April 28, 2017. Salem Park also has a world map. There are always a lot of bikers that go on the Minto Brown Park bridge on the west side of downtown Salem. 


Lori Bates has been a hair stylist since the 1980's. Her favorite part of her job is to talk to people and being able to work from her house. Lori lives in West Salem. She mainly does haircuts for people who live in her neighborhood.  Lori used to work as a hair stylist for a company, but recently is able to cut hair from her house. 


 On May 11 Salem's Saturday market was really busy. They are open from 9am- 2 pm. There are multiple different sections that you can go look at. This booth was selling cakes, pies, and fudge. Salem Saturday market is located near the capital building.

Linn-Benton Community College is located in Albany, Oregon. LBCC was built in 1966. It offers degrees in a variety of areas including Culinary, Welding, Psychology,  Math, English, and Journalism. Many of the students also get a transfer degree so that they can go to a four-year college.  After LB many  students go on to Oregon State University, and Western Oregon University. Here are some photos from around campus. This is Patrick Acree and he works in the library on May 20, helping students find information. He can also show them where to find the books they need. He has been working for the library for  six years.  These are shelves with different kinds of history books and the table down in the front is where students can study and work on homework. Environmental Portrait: Brian Reed

   Brian Reed is the engineering instructor at Linn-Benton Community College. He has worked in this position for fourteen years. His favorrit part of his job is interacting with the students, and to hang out with collegues. His first job was he worked at his parents print shop when he was eight years old.  Some of Brian's hobbies are electronics, wood working, and music. He's favorite way to spend the day off is to read a good sci fantasy book. One thing that makes his day instantly better is he lives out of town and sometimes he'll get to see wild turkeys, deer, and bunnies. He also likes wild life and it always puts a smile on his face. If he could time travel he would go 100 years in the future to see if we made it.

Book Report: “It’s What I Do” by Lynsey Addario

 In the book “It’s What I Do” by Lynsey Addario we follow Lynsey, who is a photographer during some of the twenty-first-century war. One of my favourite moments from this book was when in March 2011, Lynsey was kidnapped in Libya while she was covering the fighting between the director Moammar Gadhafi's troops and rebel forces, why I found this interesting is because this is covered in multiple chapters and the final two chapters we figure out where Lynsey went while she was kidnapped. Another event that I found interesting is in chapter 9 titled The Most Dangerous Place in the World, Lysney and her partner were covering a war, and Lysney found out that her partner was pregnant, I found this to be interesting because Lynsey’s partner continued to help Lynsey with her work even though Lynsey wanted her to leave.
