Around Campus: Photo Story

Linn-Benton Community College is located in Albany, Oregon. LBCC was built in 1966. It offers degrees in a variety of areas including Culinary, Welding, Psychology,  Math, English, and Journalism. Many of the students also get a transfer degree so that they can go to a four-year college.  After LB many  students go on to Oregon State University, and Western Oregon University. Here are some photos from around campus.


This is Patrick Acree and he works in the library on May 20, helping students find information. He can also show them where to find the books they need. He has been working for the library for  six years. 



These are shelves with different kinds of history books and the table down in the front is where students can study and work on homework. The library also loans out computers and also staffs the student help desk. 


Josh Stickrod works for the writing center at Linn-Benton. He has been working for the writing centre since 2019. Before he worked for the writing centre, he was an editor for The Commuter. He helps students who need help with their essays and other assignments.



Jack, left to right, Rylie, and Camden, where play chess in the campus store located at the Linn-Benton Community College on May 22. This was their first time playing chess at this location, but they enjoyed hanging out and playing chess. In addition to a chess board they also provide drinks, school supplies, gear, food, and a comfy place to study.


During Conversation and Coffee, two people play hacky sack on May 29. Conversation and Coffee is held in Linn-Benton's courtyard. It is hosted by Jeff Springer. He and a friend also organize a worship group on Thursdays. This group also has dinners at Jeff's house every week. The courtyard also provides places to sit with friends or study. The courtyard also has a water fountain. 



Jonah Wasmer-Foree works in the Roast Runners coffee shop on May 29 at Linn-Benton Community College. He is the manager. Roast Runners offers coffee, blended Red Bull drinks, and tea. Roast runners overlooks the courtyard right night to the Student Union. 


The Linn-Benton baseball team practices on May 20. They run from 1st to 2nd base then 2nd base to 3rd.  The catcher's job was to throw it to each base before the runners got to each base.  They practice on Dick McClain Field on the Albany campus. A week later they won the NWAC championship aginst Tacoma in Washington. The score was 7-4. This is their second championship in the last three years. 


Amanda Raiter works in the testing center on June 7. The testing center is on Linn-Benton Community College in Red Cedar hall on the LB campus. Amanda has been working for the testing center for a couple of years. The testing center is a place where students can go a take a test that they either missed in class or if they want a quieter place to take a test.

Hello, my name is Ryan and I am taking a Photojournalism class at Linn Benton Community College. My Major is Psychology, I am taking photojournalism becuase I want to get better at taking photos since I have no photography experience. One of my favorite photos that I have taken this summer was of my cat Albus who is part Main Coon.  Three goals that I have for this class is to take better photos since I have no experiences with photography, how use a fancier camera other then my phone so that I can get better pictures, and also getting out of my comfort zone and taking photos of strangers and interviewing them. On The Job

 Josh Murane works in the Physical Science preparation department on April 25. Josh has worked in this position for eight years, and was an assistant for this department before this job. Some of Josh's hobbies are playing video games, and playing DND, and he likes to hang out with friends. The best vacation that Josh went on was to Hawaii with friends. He enjoyed this vacation because it was relaxing and he got to hang out with his friends. Nickel Sonneman, left, and Dylan Jorgensen have been working for the Lebanon Fire Department. Sonneman worked as a volunteer during the 2020 wildfires in Oregon. Soon after, Jorgensen joined after. They interacted with students at the career fair at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany on April 24. They were recruiting students who were interested in becoming firefighters and emergency medical techs.

 While I was walking though Linn Benton Community College with my classmates and instructor, we came across this wall mural, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get a photo that was a little further away  For the second photo, I also came across a flower that I wanted to get a close-up photo.  With the last photo, I did a medium shot with Paster Tyler from Salem First Baptist Church's Young Adults Group.
